• When is it time to replace my mattress?

We should replace our mattress with a new one every seven years out of hygienic reasons and because the human body and its needs change over time.

• Should the mattresses be cleaned regularly and how? Is the deep -clean offered by some cleaning services and individuals a good decision?

If the mattress has a removable and washable cover, it is advisable to wash it at least once a year. The non-removable mattress cover should be cleaned and wiped with a wet cloth. It is not recommendable to perform a deep-clean of the mattress cover, because it can damage the cover and does not reach the core of the mattress.

• What to do if the mattress gets wet?

The mattress should be well dried on both sides. If the mattress has a removable and washable cover, remove it as soon as possible, wash it and dry it in the sun, and then wipe the mattress and dry it.

• How to clean a baby mattress if there is a spot of urine on it?

It is advisable to clean or remove these stains as soon as possible. With lukewarm water (a drop of a cleaner can be added to it) and a sponge gently wipe the stain until you remove the contents of the stain. Do not rub the stains, as this will enable the dirt to penetrate into the fabric even faster. Both stains and unpleasant odours can effectively be removed by washing soda.

• How to clean a mattress with mould on it?

We can wipe the place where the mould appeared with washing soda or essential tea oil (mixed with water), but it is advisable to replace such mattress as soon as possible. We do not recommend foam and latex mattresses for wet and damp rooms, as despite their air channels and perforations they are less airy than the pocket spring core or Bonnell spring core mattresses. There should be enough space under the mattress to allow air ventilation. For the mattress base you should use slatted bases that provide proper support and airiness. When buying a new mattress, explain the dampness problems to your seller, as they will be able to advise and recommend the best mattresses regarding your conditions.

• How can we make sure that our mattress keeps its shape and stays clean?

It is advisable to turn the mattress several times a year. If you use a pocket spring core mattress you should use pay attention to choose a proper mattress base.  We recommend slatted bases with slats that are less than 4 cm apart. We should also pay attention to weight distribution – pocket springs are intended for lying positions, so when sitting on bed, make sure that you do not sit on the edge of the bed but rather more in the centre of the mattress. It is advisable to wash the mattress cover at least once a year.

• How important is the bedding that we use? Can bedding affect the mattress features?

If bedding is made of poor quality materials that are not airy and breathable, this will cause body overheating and sweating while sleeping, even if the mattress is airy and of high-quality materials. Bedding is just as important as it comes in direct contact with your skin, so it is important that it is made of quality materials.

• How to wash the removable/washable mattress cover?

You have to check the maintenance specifications that are listed on the cover (maintenance labels). The mebloJOGI® mattress covers can be washed in a washing machine using the wash program for sensitive clothing. The cover must not be dried in a drying machine, and it mustn’t be ironed. The advantage of removable mebloJOGI® covers is that they have a zipper that seperates the lower and upper part, allowing you to wash them individually.

• Can I wash latex, memory foam and HR foam pillows?

All mebloJOGI® pillows have a removable and washable cover that can be washed at 60 °C in a washing machine. The cover must not be ironed and dried in a drying machine. The insides of the pillow, ie the memory foam, latex and HR foam, are not washable. But you must know that these are all quality and certified materials that prevent the development of mites, bacteria and mould and therefore do not need to be washed.

DURABILITY

Pocket spring mattresses are known for their ability to completely adjust to the body pressure points. The pocket spring core provides optimal body support and exceptional comfort at the same time. The mattress provides support across your whole body length and width, and keeps the spine in its natural alignment, causing the muscles to relax. We sleep peacefully and with little motion.

How do pocket springs work?

Individual springs are cushioned in their own pockets of fabric. They are sewn together, but operate independently. The springs are wrapped around their axis seven times, allowing extreme flexibility and elasticity. When lying on the mattress, only the springs supporting the body are compressed and the others are at rest. Pocket springs respond to the slightest change in weight distribution across the mattress, the shape of the body, and sleeping position.

All of these advantages of the pocket spring core are even more obvious with zoned cores. Cores can have 1, 3, 5, or 7 zones. The 5-zone core has the following arrangement of zones: firm, soft, firm, soft, firm. The firmness of the zones differs in the thickness of the spring wire – in the softer springs, the wire is thinner, and in the case of firmer springs, it is thicker.

Classic steel spring core

The Bonnell classic stell spring core is made of springs, which are interconnected by a spiral wire. Spring coils are wider at the top and bottom, than in the center. The shape of the coils is similar to an hourglass.

Mattresses with the Bonnell core adjust to the body as a flat surface and feel firmer. The thickness of the spring wire defines the firmness of the mattress; if the wire is thicker, the mattress is firmer, and if the wire is thinner, the mattress is softer.

Foam mattresses

Foam mattresses differ by the type of foam and number of zones. The basic foam, used in both foam mattresses and in mattresses with the pocket spring and classic steel spring core, is polyurethane foam. The firmness of the foam depends on the usage. The foam on the edges is normally firmer, than the one on the sleeping surface area.

Puhin® foam

Puhin® foam is a new type of polyurethane foam, with high flexibility and elasticity being its main characteristics. This foam is especially suitable for mattresses, because it maintains its shape and adjusts well to the body. Puhin® foam is hypoallergenic; therefore it is perfect for people with allergies and asthma.

HR-foam

HR-foam is high-resilient foam, which perfectly supports body pressure points and relieves the body due to the high elasticity of the material. An open pore structure, that resembles a natural sea sponge, ensures air permeability and a pleasant sleeping climate with excellent moisture and heat control. HR-foam is very soft and pleasant to the touch and it properly supports the body. HR-foam is hypoallergenic and suitable for asthmatics and people with allergies.

Memory foam

A well-known material, that moulds itself under body weight and temperature, embraces the body and minimizes the upward pressure of the mattress as much as possible.

Creating a comfortable sleeping environment

To get a good night’s sleep there are three key factors to consider: silence, darkness, and a proper room temperature.

• Pleasant silence. The noise of a fan, a switched on radio, or television, or any, even so insignificant, silent noise can disturb your sleep.
• Your sleep should not be interrupted by light; you should sleep in a dark room. If this is not possible, use a sleeping mask.  .
• The ideal temperature in the bedroom is between 16 and 20 ° C. If it is too hot in the room or if you sleep with too many blankets, your sleep will be disturbed.

Follow our tips for a better sleep

• Establish a sleep schedule: always go to bed at the same time and wake up at the same time.
• Before going to bed, do something that relaxes you: take a bath, read a book, listen to music. This should become a habit.
• Your bedroom should be your haven: dark, quiet, comfortable and cool.
• Regularly check if your mattress and pillow provide proper support and comfort. Get a new mattress every 7 years, and a new pillow every year.
• Televisions, computers and work materials do not belong in the bedroom. Bedrooms are intended for sleep and relaxation only.
